Before you agree to a vehicle offer
Use this checklist with the dealer. An online special is a starting point, not a final quote.
Confirm the exact vehicle
- Ask for the VIN or stock number, model year, trim, options, color, and availability.
- Check whether the advertised terms apply to that vehicle or only to a limited group of cars.
Get the complete written numbers
- Request an itemized out-the-door price, including taxes, title, registration, documentation fee, and any dealer add-ons.
- For a lease, confirm monthly payment, term, annual mileage, total due at signing, security deposit, acquisition fee, and end-of-lease charges.
- For financing, confirm APR, term, amount financed, total payments, and whether the price requires dealer financing.
Check incentive eligibility
- Ask which rebates apply to you and whether dealer discounts and manufacturer programs can actually be combined.
- Confirm residency, credit tier, loyalty, military, student, trade-in, and delivery-date conditions before comparing prices.
Before signing
- Compare the written quote with the online offer and ask the dealer to explain every difference.
- Read the contract and verify that no optional product or fee was added without your agreement.
- Keep a copy of the offer and the final written quote.
